What is Resolution?
Resolution refers to the level of detail in an image and is typically measured in DPI (dots per inch). Higher resolution images produce sharper, clearer printed products.
For best printing results:
- Recommended resolution is 300 DPI at final print size
- Low-resolution images may appear blurry or pixelated when printed
- Simply increasing the DPI in a graphics program will not improve image quality
Images pulled from websites or screenshots are often too low resolution for quality printing.
If you are unsure whether your artwork is high enough quality, our team can review it before production.
Understanding RGB vs. CMYK
RGB and CMYK are two different color modes used for digital screens and print production.
RGB (Red, Green, Blue)
RGB is used for digital displays such as:
- Computer monitors
- Phones
- Tablets
- TVs
RGB colors are created using light, which allows screens to display very bright and vibrant colors.
CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)
CMYK is the color process used in professional printing.
Because printed materials use ink instead of light, some colors displayed on screens cannot be replicated exactly in print.
For best color accuracy:
- Design print files in CMYK mode whenever possible
- Understand that slight color variation between screen and print is normal
Many uploaded image files, especially JPEGs and PNGs, are typically created in RGB format.
Why Printed Colors May Look Different
Colors can appear differently in print than they do on your screen due to:
- Screen brightness and calibration
- RGB to CMYK color conversion
- Material and substrate differences
- Ink absorption and finish types
At Brand It Graphix, we use professional printing equipment and color management processes to produce colors as accurately and consistently as possible.
While slight variations may occur, our team works hard to maintain high-quality color standards across every order.
